Meet the team behind Saber Martial Arts. Our coaches bring years of experience, a passion for teaching, and a commitment to helping every student reach their full potential both on and off the mats.

Jake Hesselgrave is the owner and Head Coach of Saber Martial Arts with 21 years of martial arts experience, over 10 years of coaching experience, a black belt in Judo, and international training and competition experience in Muay Thai and MMA.

Vanessa Cherry is Saber Martial Arts’ Youth Coach and a Brown Belt in Jiu-Jitsu who brings a positive, supportive coaching style to both youth classes and private lessons.

Felicia Beaver is a Youth Coach at Saber Martial Arts with experience in both Kickboxing and Jiu-Jitsu, bringing positive energy and support to youth training classes.

Syd is a Certified Athletic Trainer with a background in sports medicine, rehabilitation, and performance training who works with active-duty military members and athletes. As a former collegiate hockey athlete and current martial artist, she is passionate about helping people feel strong, confident, and supported in an inclusive training environment.

Coach Abigail “Abbi” Reidy specializes in developing the next generation of martial artists through positive, engaging instruction for our Youth and Mini Rollers programs. Despite only beginning her Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey three years ago, Abbi has quickly established herself as a successful competitor. She is a blue belt, an IBJJF National silver medalist, and a Jiu-Jitsu World League gold medalist, demonstrating both her dedication to the sport and her commitment to continual improvement.
Abbi joined the Saber Martial Arts coaching staff in May 2026 and has become a favorite among our younger students. She has a natural ability to create a fun, safe and encouraging learning environment while teaching strong fundamentals and building confidence. Her patience, enthusiasm, and genuine care for each student’s development help children not only become better martial artists but also develop discipline, respect, and a love for learning

Coach Trevon Stubbs is a Marine Corps veteran, professsional mixed martial artist, and one of the original coaches at Saber Martial Arts. After serving five years in the United States Marine Corps, Trevon began training in mixed martial arts in 2016 and has built an impressive competitive career. He compiled a 5-2 amateur record, earning an amateur lightweight with a 2-2 record.
As an instructor, Trevon is known for his positive attitude, technical knowledge, and ability to connect with students of all experience levels. Whether he’s coaching someone through their first class or preparing athletes for competition, he emphasizes disciplined fundamentals, intelligent training, and continual improvement. Since helping open Saber Martial Arts in 2025, Trevon has become an integral part of the academy’s adult and teen programs, helping students develop confidence, resilience, and practical martial arts skills.

Coach Cody Warner is a Marine Corps veteran. Competitive mixed martial artist, and one of the founding coaches at Saber Martial Arts. As a lifelong athlete who wrestled in high school, Cody began training in mixed martial arts in 2018 and has continued to compete in both MMA and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He holds a 5-2 amateur MMA record as a featherweight and is a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Cody brings a calm, patient coaching style that makes students feel comfortable while still challenging them to improve. His wrestling background, grappling experience, and cage competition provide students with practical, pressure-tested techniques, while his passion for teaching helps athletes of every age and skil level build confidence and grow. Cody has been coaching at Saber Martials Arts since the academy opened in 2025.
